Wellington Young Voices Choir Performances! (two in one day) Part 1

Image
Malvina Major Retirement Village (I was so tired after doing   these two performances ðŸ˜‘)  My first performance in WYV.   Huh. Weird that last week's   blog was perfomance related.     What a coincidence. But  anyway, here am I, scanning   the area, and by area, I mean     the inside of Malvina Major   Retirement Village.  Other than staff strolling around the retirement village, it's practically a ghost town in here. Apparently my parents thought that coming 1 hour and 30 minutes early was an excellent idea. I assume that they wanted to maintain their punctual reputation.  As normal, my mum snaps so many photos of me and her that I lost track of how many she took. It's a usual routine when they discover new environments and/or attend events. Especially at my first time performing in WYV. I glance at my watch. Only 5 minutes have past. This comes to me as devastating news. Patience i...

A Matariki Performance (June 18 2025)

MATARIKI CELEBRATION ⭐ !! My parents took this photo (names used in this blog are not their actual names) Before the Kapa haka performance... Like most people, they would feel extremely nervous before they perform. But here's the thing. I'm not like "most people". I'm Sophia, and well, I've done this before, so I don't feel a single ounce of nervousness.  I walk into my school at around 4pm. The call time is 4pm, but the performance starts at 5. At the same time, we have a Matariki celebration to guess what, celebrate Matariki. It also starts at 5pm. Our performance is to welcome people. We are "the start". I glance at my surroundings. There's a couple of kids, playing ball-relating activities. The air is quite frigid, but then again it's literally winter time in NZ. Making my way towards the Reading Recovery, I wonder if I was the last person who's arrived and hasn't been dressed up in kapa haka gear. Apparently that's so, b...

The Heated Match

(names used throughout the writing are not their real names, for privacy reasons) It seemed as though the bad luck from floorball had somehow passed on to basketball, because effortless it had seemed, most teams that opposed us had won. Our team won last week, so we had to maintain our win. Carter, the star player of our team, had a great reputation. Still does. I noticed this because in every game, when my teammates were in a helpless position, they would always depend on Carter to race through the court and shoot. This was probably because either Carter was stupendously good at this sport, or he was just undeniably reliable. Most likely both. This game was not that different compared to all games we'd played. However, the team we were facing were not what we had played against before... Now when I say that, I mean they were super different. Their physical attributes were tall and almost muscular and wore bright yellow T-shirts, and their expressions hinted no sign of friendline...

Place Review: Wairarapa, New Zealand

Destination: Copthorne Hotel and Resort Solway Park  (it's a long name I know)                                                                                                                 Some facilities:  Games room, gym, indoor and outdoor pool and jacuzzi                                      What I liked: Outside the hotel was one thing that really stood out to me. There's a beautiful archway, surrounded by green and a couple of flowers blooming. There's also a tennis court, and when we came, it was the perfect weather to play tennis! I really liked outside. It's one of those places where you can r...
