Chapter 1 of Princess Isabelle and the Underwater Kingdom in Deep Waters

Chapter One: The Celebration of Olden Time

Mary gently knocked the door 3 times as the soft sound woken Isabelle. ''Your Royal Highness,'' although Isabelle's door was closed, she did a little curtsy. ''Your breakfast is ready.'' Mary whispered in a soft voice. ''Firstly, you can call me Isabelle and secondly, breakfast is only served at 8 o'clock. Pray tell, why have you woke me up at only...'' She paused to check the time. ''7:45?'' she said, clearly peeved. ''Madam, please understand. You do know that breakfast is served early to present the punctuality that the Royal chef has to offer, don't you?'' she said assertively. ''Whoa Mary, you are in a mood today. I was just testing to see how confident can you get. Now where is my croissant?'' she added cheekily. ''Right here, Milady.'' She handed in the tray and grinned to Isabelle, and she smiled back at her. Mary and Isabelle had a close relationship to each other. Growing up, Isabelle was lonely most of times. Mainly because of attending coronations, alliances and festivals, etc. She used all her spare time just to attend these events, but didn't have time to just spend time with friends. Her maid, Mary filled all the loneliness Isabelle had and that made her the person she was today. Isabelle was a very unique princess. She preferred to be called Isabelle rather than "Your Royal Highness". When she was young, instead of playing with dolls, she liked reading books rather than playing with dolls. She even sometimes wore shorts or pants secretly inside her bedroom, which was filled with books, canvasses, tubes of paint everywhere, paint palettes, paintings... well a long explanation short, a lot of things. She sat still as Mary walked away. She listened to the sound of Mary's shoes noisily clickety-clack down the narrow expanse of the hallway.

Isabelle put on her normal dress and nice, polished shoes. She combed her hair that was smooth as silk and headed to the dining room. She sat down as her parents glanced at her. ''Good morning, Isabelle.'' Only her parents could say her first name. ''Your father and I have some news. You see, in every 50 years we celebrate the first king and queen, who is Queen Margaret and King Jack, which once ruled the lands of Corona. The citizens who live here celebrate the Celebration of Olden Time particularly because one day, the God of Mercy, Linabas was fighting against her greatest enemy the God of Vengeance, Hitane. This caused chaos as thunder and lightning flashed dangerously out of the sky. Not intentionally, Hitane hit the queen and king in the bridge near the beach and there weren't any signs of bodies.'' There was a long dramatic pause but Isabelle broke the silence. "So... when and where will we do this Celebration of Olden Time event, Mother?" She asked with curiosity. Her mother took a deep breath and replied, "Today. And this time; in one of the royal boats." She stared at the queen in disbelief. "Are you serious Mother?! You know I absolutely despise being in the water!!!" She yelled defiantly. "Isabelle, we celebrate in the seas because the bodies of the queen and king perished within these waters. You know this is a very big deal for the entire kingdom, don't you think?"She paused for a moment. She reluctantly agreed and they were off.

"Father, are you sure I need to put this ridiculously heavy head piece on top of my tiny little head?" she asked with a hint of sarcasm. "Yes Isabelle. Not need, but you MUST." the king commanded. As she was finishing the last touches to her dress, a royal trumpet made Isabelle jump. "EEK!" she squealed. "Fellow citizens, ladies and gentlemen, today is a very important day. Every 5 decades, we celebrate this event to honour the first queen and king who did not deserve being struck by flashes of lightning." the town crier announced wearily. The kingdom fell silent. "But we are lucky that deceased Queen Margaret and King Jack has made this kingdom into a lovely place. Now, it is time to commemorate... and CELEBRATE!" The people erupted into applause. The event had officially started. The royals stepped onto the enormous boat that was docked by the sea. The people flooded into the boat. One minute, the boat was just wood and plank. The next minute, there were music and life. People chit-chatted merrily and everyone was having a great time. Isabelle closed her eyes as she felt the wind brushed through her face. Maybe being in the water wasn't that bad as she thought it would be. Suddenly, the boat shook dangerously and she popped her eyes wide open. Panic grew inside Isabelle's mind. She was leaning against the edge of the boat so it was even more life threatening than it looked like. Waves thrashed precariously into each other as people stared into the deep blue sea. "GAHHH!!!!" Isabelle shrieked as she splashed into the water, leaving the king and queen panic-stricken. The last thing Isabelle heard was the bellow of the queen calling out her name.
