Book Review: Rooftoppers by Katherine Rundell

Title: Rooftoppers

Author: Katherine Rundell

Genre: Fiction

Publisher: Simon and Schuster (link here→Simon and Schuster)

Plot:

Sophie always wanted a mother. Abandoned in a cello case by the sea, Charles found Sophie and took her in as his own. He raised her and named her Sophie. But as soon as the government demands Charles to let Sophie go to an orphanage, they travel to Paris to find Sophie's mother, who was known to be dead. But Sophie thinks not. Sophie climbs into the rooftops of Paris and meets a boy named Matteo. With the help of Matteo and his group of rooftoppers, will they find her mother in time?

What I liked (spoiler alert!):

I liked the ending, it was very touching and  heartfelt  as Sophie first set eyes upon her mother. It  was quite a big deal for her, and for me as well. The  ending had a really nice touch. I felt warm and  fuzzy when I read the last 2 sentences of the book.  Like my last book review (go check it out if you  haven't already), I also liked the message the book  taught me. My favourite quote yet in the book,  "Never ignore a "possible." In other words, it never  hurts to try something that you don't know that will  work.

What was my least favorite part of the book:

I looooooooove admiring illustrations in   books. It's practically eye candy for me. I have   plenty of books I've read that don't have illustrations   but still an interesting read. But a part of me really   wants to see at least a few illustrations set in   Rooftoppers. I would definitely appreciate a picture   of the Eiffel Tower near the rooftops with Sophie in   it. But otherwise, love it!

Overall thoughts:
