The Peculiar School called Erehmai | Chapter 7: Frozen to the Spot - Last Chapter

It had been weeks ever since Monica broke the trance of the girl that bumped into a tree. She had been sneaking inside school, clapping on repeat, but as always, getting caught. She was getting tired of this boring routine. But one day, she had picked up the courage, and her fork, to stop this madness. She had also searched up on Different Demons that if you cover the lynge's eyes, it will stop them from washing the numb feeling over your body. She found that new piece of information helpful. So she sneaked into school, took a deep breath, and barged into the principal's office. Or at least, tried to. Ms. Stirling pulled Monica away from the office, at a distance so far Monica couldn't reach. "You, go outside and play. I have told you a quadrillion amounts of time to stay out of here. It is a very simple instruction." Ms. Stirling pushed her outside. "Remember. STAY OUT OF HERE." Ms. Stirling says and slams the door shut to Monica's face.

By the end of the day, Monica walked home by herself all alone on the pathway. Whenever she walked home, she could always feel the chilly, shivery feeling linger around her. She had got used to it by then, but still did not enjoy this unpleasant feeling. But this was no ordinary walk back home. Because when she strolled her way home, she caught a person wearing the same cloak Ms. Silver had worn when she was out and about near Monica's classroom. No. It couldn't be. She gaped at her, mouth hung open wide at shock. She had never seen her walk this way before, so she had posed the question; why was she here? Monica racked her brain for a logical answer. Eureka! She was following her. She walked a bit faster, and so did Ms. Silver. She turned 4 lefts and rights, and Ms. Silver was hot on her heels. Her hunch was indeed correct. Now how could she stop Ms. Silver from following her? She grabbed her fork from her pocket, turned around, and pointed her fork targeting Ms. Silver eyes. But the numb feeling had held her frozen to the spot, and Monica forgot about the new piece of information she'd learnt when she searched up on the Internet.

She stood there helplessly, her brain assessing quickly the possible solution for this problem. But it was one of those problems that didn't have a solution. She relaxed a little bit. She had to accept that this might be the end for her... But then, within the corner her eye came James blindfolding Ms. Silver with a blindfold. As expected, the numb feeling had faded away, Monica sighing and grinning with relief. James, grabbing Monica's fork, stabbed Ms. Silver in the eyes (it would have been a gruesome sight if weren't for the blindfold). She felt so glad that this was actually over and she didn't have to deal with worrying all the time. "Thank you so, so much!!!" Monica isn't the type of person to initiate a hug, but since she was so glad she decided to hug him anyway. "Wait a second. How did you know about bringing a blindfold with you?" Monica tilted her head with a mixture of curiosity and confusion. "I did my research about lynges." James explained. "Ms. Silver is one and-" He started but Monica cut him off. "I did my research too, James." She said. She reread the description so many times she could recite the whole thing right now if she wanted to. But right now she had to go home, and so did James. Her parents were going to be worried sick about her delay. "I have to go now. Thanks again for saving my life!!" She said to him as she walked away, not looking back. "I'll repay you somehow!!!" James grinned at her comment and walked home too.

Epilogue - two months later:

There had been a lot that happened within two months. Monica had started a club devoted about demons and sure, there were a few people at first, but the amount of people who joined grew and grew by time. Since Ms. Silver was long gone, a principal was replaced, who to Monica's relief was pretty nice. And the teachers apologised to her about telling her off when really she was saving humanity from crumbling into dust by Ms. Silver. And as Monica promised, she repaid by sharing the credit to James, who had been helping her all the way. She was glad a friend by her side, one who would stay by her side forever and ever.
