One thing's sure about my life. I am pretty tired after everything that's happened this term. Endless amounts of rehearsals and performances, a karate tournament, speech finals, I definitely need a break from life. But throughout the most nerve-wrecking parts of my life, I always do these things to make me feel better and tell myself that the world isn't actually ending; my spirals and stress will. They always work when I just feel like I might go insane.

1. writing an entry

The journal that I own is my life-saver. Some of the most angst pre-teen memories I've been through are  jotted down in my book, and man it really help when I felt terrible and wanted to punch the wall. Releasing my thoughts was exactly what I needed to make me feel better. According to an article I found on Google, research found that journaling has been proven to reduce stress, manage anxiety and depression. Picking up a journal and pen can really help make you feel like a weight's lifted off your shoulder. I wrote a lot when I realised something meaningful to me, lyrics to some of my favourite songs, and some entries were even made at midnight. Journaling doesn't have to be a daily routine, it's all up to you to decide whether or not you want to write things down and when you feel like it. And perhaps in the future, you can look back to all the things you wrote, your ups and downs and be reminded of your past.

2. listening to music

I have stated this in a previous blog about myself ("All About the Writer; behind the computer", please check out it if you haven't already!)  that I love listening to music, so for all of you who have read that one, you're probably not surprised. For most of my life, listening to music had always been a source of comfort for the chaotic, hectic world that I live in. A song or music artist that hit different always just made me relax and stop overthinking about everything. Like I said in my intro to this blog, this is one of the things that when I did it, it made me feel like the world wasn't ending and life is... good. And that I should stop thinking about a thing that kept me awake up at night. And of course, everyone's music taste is different. Anyone can find their type of genre that makes them feel comforted and relaxed.

3. treat yourself every once in a while

Sometimes I find it pointless when I spend my money on treating myself. But it's good to go out and just take care of yourself. I have to be honest, it feels really good to browse at a good shop, and take your mind off things, or buy yourself some miso ramen on a rainy day. It can be good for your mental health, and when you're running low on energy, it can be an energy boost.

4. watch a favourite show (or a new show)

Let's be real, we all have that one comfort show that for some apparent reason, we seem to keep rewatching it again and again and still not get bored of it. This is another thing to do that can put your mind at ease and just watch something that comforts you. A hooking storyline, great characters and delicious snacks can make you feel better when life is a rollercoaster. Watch something that you makes you laugh, because laughter is the best medicine. It's a cliche phrase, but it's fairly accurate at the same time.

5. try not to think about the thing that stresses you

This is based on a true story. On a late night, I was feeling quite overwhelmed about the tournament I was going to have when I went to bed, and I thought about it so much that it kept me up at night and I would just stare at the ceiling. I felt hot, I couldn't breathe, it was the worst nightmare. But the one thing that didn't cross my mind was this one easy solution, instead of overthinking about the thing that makes you stressed, don't. You can control the thoughts that you process in your head, so if you don't wanna process stress, you have the option to do so. My mum told me in times like these, I should always try counting the blessings that I have in my life. And some of those things are simple. Like getting to live another day. Or having food to eat and a shelter to keep warm in. Those are some things not all people get to have in their life. Some people are living in the streets, with no food or home to stay in, only begging for money from the people that pass them. Be grateful for all the things you have right now and have a positive mindset.

I took a photo of a school art project called Calendar Art. How Calendar Art works is basically, our office administrator scans all the Calendar Art my whole class has done and sends the digital version of our art to a company to put our art into a cover of a calendar. It doesn't have to be a calendar, it can be a card, notebook or diary! I hope you like my work!

Thank you so much for reading and see you next Saturday!!!
