First food: Gyudon, a bowl of thinly sliced beef and caramelised onions

⏺ Hey Ramen

When I was toddler and spending my life in Singapore, there was this shop called Yoshinoya, where the shop sold almost gyudon only, with a side of kaarage. Depends. And everytime I ate there, I can't even recall getting tired of eating bowls and bowls of gyudon. I would consider this my childhood dish. And when I took the first bite of gyudon, I felt a sense of nostalgia, it just hit me like a truck. The gyudon from Hey Ramen tasted exactly the childhood gyudon I had. And on the commentary side, I really loved the hot meal. If you haven't read #2 of the food reviews, well, I mentioned that I was a biased beef fan (the meat is just heaven). If you are huge fan of beef, you MUST try this gyudon from Hey Ramen. It is probably one of the decent gyudon I've ate, and that's an enormous compliment, because I've tried a lot of gyudon in my life.

Second food: Chicken Katsu Don, thin strips of fried chicken with rice

⏺ Hey Ramen

I am obsessed with fried chicken. And Japanese food. So when I heard about Chicken Katsu Don, a mixed of one of my two favourite things in the world, I already knew by even the appearance I was gonna love it. And to my non-existent surprise, I did. The kewpie mayo that was drizzled on top paired really well with the fried chicken.

(True story: when I was a picky toddler, I hated any type of sauce or condiment that touched the food I was about to eat. If any sauce or condiment did, I would throw a tantrum immediately. But today, as a preteen, I'm very glad I eventually built the courage to overcome my pickiness, because I now realised: what was I missing out on when I was younger??)

I am now incredibly obsessed with this, like I'm not even exaggerating, this is the best Katsu Don I have ever ate hands down. Every single component of the dish just makes it so delicious and yummy <3.
