some suggestions you should consider for the new year.
It's unbelievable how the year is almost over. Months ago I was just this scared 11 year old of life who just started Year 7, and now I'm 12, still scared, but just less than I was before. My favourite thing about the new year is that it's always unforgettable. Last year my family and I got to see the fireworks lit up in the sky with thousands other people, and sure, I do it almost every year, but just because it's repetitive doesn't necessarily mean it would be unforgettable. I've been through my ups and downs, loads of them. 2025 has been... well, a lot. I can't even imagine next year. It's going to be wild. But l've been thinking about it, and I've decided to make a list of what things I could do before 2026 begins. I want to share with you some suggestions of mine! Please enjoy!~
1. write a google form to yourself
This suggestion is what I thought of, but to be honest with you, it can go multiple ways. You could write a message to yourself to read next year. Or a voice recording. Anything really. But the reason why I chose a google form as a suggestion for you to use is because you can answer some questions from "past you" that you've written in the google form
You can write some questions to answer, include a message for future you. I felt like it would be interesting to read a message from past me, because then I could remember which era I was in back then. My dislikes, my likes, music taste, etc... And the best part is you can record your answer, and you can keep it just for you to access any time in your life.
2. make a new year's resolution
This one is a more well-known suggestion when you start the new year off. It's more well-known because it's basically writing your goals you want to succeed and improve at. Write down some things that you want to improve for the new year that's coming. Like my last suggestion, it could be anything you want it to. For example, this year's resolution for me was to read 200 books by the end of the year (and PS: I did it!), and the reason why I chose that as my goal for the year was because I wanted to read more rather than being glued to a tiny screen all the time. If you put in the effort, then the results will show not instantly, but over a period of time. New Year's Resolution is what I recommend to do when you want to improve and/or achieve something.
3. spend time with your family
What better way to celebrate the new year than to spend it with your family! One of the most joyful memories was when I spent it with my relatives and parents, the ones who brought me life. I appreciate them for everything they do in my life. I don't think I really need to explain why. If you want to make some beautiful memories and reunite with your loved ones, then make the effort to visit them. Marking the new year alone would feel terrible, having the people you deeply care about around you would make you so much happier. And the feeling would be mutual. Spreading joy and happiness is exactly what you should be doing to mark the new year!!
4. watch the New Year fireworks around your area!!
This is pretty similar to #3. But it's just a great experience to wait until midnight with a hundreds other people for fireworks to light up the sky! It's personally one of the classic ways when the upcoming year is approaching. In my area, when I go the Wellington Waterfront (where the fireworks are usually held), it is buzzing with so much people on New Year's Eve. Taking photos with family, buying food from food stalls, gazing at the soon to be bright and vibrant sky, every time I visit the Waterfront, I just perk up with excitement. If you have any events like these happening around your area, I highly recommend going to one! You make great memories, and have an unforgettable fresh beginning to the new year.
5. get your calendars ready
This is essential for organisation, so that you won't get your plans mixed up or disorganised for 2026. Especially if you are a busy person who has a chaotic schedule, owning a calendar would make it easier to track your upcoming tasks, and to know what events are coming up in your life. That, way you can prepare yourself both physically and mentally. Calendars of course can also be super useful to keep track of time, so when you have an event at a particular date, you can know how long it is from the current date to the date the event is on. I've actually got a customised calendar with my art as the cover from school! A few blogs ago, remember about the Calendar Art that I did for my school? That piece of art was then photocopied and made into a calendar format.
Thank you for reading this blog! See you Saturday!!
