Starting the first day of 2026 at Disneyland!!

 Jan 1st, 2026

It's the first day of 2026.

After midnight's turn of events filled with uncontrollable laughter - which unbelievably was only a matter of hours ago -, today will be the last day of Tito Ram, Tita Pretty, Mamu and Cubby's time in Hongkong. They'll be leaving to go to the airport and to return back home in Thailand.

I give all of my family members who are returning home a tight embrace. The memories we'd made, the late night conversations, the tiredness we'd all been through together, it comes flooding in my mind. We exchange our goodbyes, and it feels so hard just to stand there and watch them leave. And I can sense that Ninang and Mum are feeling a similar emotion.

Mum, Ninang and I glance at each other after the train ride from our hotel, as if we're all telepaths, and can distinctively tell what we're analysing. The familiar crowds that are formed is what ticks us all off. This is going to take forever just to get inside...

Despite this being my second time in Hongkong Disneyland, I still can't help but admire the castle from where I stand. Tourists around the area are taking this a opportunity to do some photo-taking. And we three are soon about to join them.

My mind is distracted from everything that's happening around me. How did they build the castle like that- "MINNIE MOUSE!! SOPHIA, LOOK, IT'S MINNIE MOUSE!!" Mum starts exclaiming and gesturing from my back as if a celebrity has waltzed into the parks ground and flicks an autograph at her. "Huh?" This causes me to turn back, and immediately spot Minnie Mouse posing cutely for the camera with a grateful kid. My face lights up, then dropping splat on the floor only to find that there's a line which has a waiting time of... "AN HOUR?! Just for a photo??"

But ultimately, I decide to accept my fate.

I'm going to experience my first ever rollercoaster ride. Scared wouldn't be the right word to put it, but rather excited, strangely. Ever since I was a little curious toddler who roamed the Earth, I always was interested on taking a rollercoaster ride. Plus, I love being terrified. The thrill is just so... crazily enjoyable. Irony but true.

The waiting time on the board states 1 hour, and I couldn't even be less shocked than I already am. If I have to stand for an hour straight just to experience the Frozen Sliding sleigh, then so be it.

I'm gonna die. The feeling of terrified kicks in at the last possible moment, as I step onto the seat with a railing attached. Here we go...

Painfully slow, the contraption brings me higher and higher on a slope... before dipping down, my stomach lurching, and I let out a panicked scream. I grip on the railing for my dear life, and this

happens in only a matter of 30 seconds.

The contraption reaches the point where we once started at, and all that echoes in my mind was how fast that was. That's... it? We waited forever just to get a mere 30 seconds on the rollercoaster? I don't even try to conceal my disappointment. But simultaneously, my heart is practically thundering in my chest. That actually went way better than I expected though...
