My time at Coronet Peak; experiences and a little bit of a guide for tourists!!
Hi guys~ Welcome to another blog post of mine, and today, I'll be sharing with you some details and description of what's up in Coronet Peak as a local in Queenstown. Hopefully this will give some insights if you're planning to go to Queenstown.
(fun fact: I've explained a little bit in my YT channel, but this wasn't actually my first time going to Coronet Peak. I've actually been to this place for my pre-birthday celebration trip, and went skiing for the first time in Coronet Peak!!)
What is Coronet Peak?
Coronet Peak is a skiing resort that was first open in 1947. It's one of the four major places for skiing in Queenstown.
And this mountain is suitable for all people with different skills in snow sports. There's roller coaster terrain, wide runs, fast laps, and plenty of vertical for those who are capable of the available snow sports (skiing and snowboarding). They even have training lessons within your grasp to enhance your ability on the snow!
What's currently up as of now in Coronet Peak?
As of now, Coronet are now doing an Early Winter Opening, which runs from 29th of May to 12th of June. The following information below shows the features for the opening, from the official website itself:
Open daily, 10am–3pm
- Peak Gondola for sightseeing adventures to the top of Coronet Peak featuring amazing views.
- Magic Carpet lifts for ski and snowboard access to our beginner terrain and snow sledding lane.
- Sledding lane (accessed via Magic Carpet lift - fun and smiles guaranteed!
- Sled hire (bookings required)
- Equipment rental (skis/snowboard, boots, poles, clothing, helmets)
- Ski and snowboard lessons (First Timer + Private)
- Café for great coffee and kiwi hospitality at altitude
- Ski bus return transport from Queenstown
My overall experience in Coronet Peak:
If you're planning to go there, there are so many benefits other than the Early Winter Opening. Over the course of my 2 visits in Coronet Peak, I've just realised that the entry process is extremely easy. It's relatively straightforward with tons of signs and variations of directions there, and lovely staff assisted us by guiding the way on both visits.
