Last-minute mini trip to the Mackenzie District New Zealand to see snow XD (was soo worth it!)
Just in case you haven't read the title... yeah, this day trip to specifically Lake Tekapo was entirely unplanned. The updates on social media about how snow had formed really what motivated us to drive 3 hours to a place we hadn't experienced snow before. But in my family, that mere fact didn't stop us at all from doing what we wanted. With a bag full of snacks on my side, and a trusty phone in Mum's hands, our journey began.
11:55am, first stop over of the day
> High Country Salmon
2/3 of the journey, and ultimately our hunger caved in. My parent had actually recommended this place, so all of us had high hopes for what awaited us inside.
Brief review of the restaurant:
As soon as we entered the restaurant, it is already reeked of fish. But I disregarded that, since High Country Salmon was know for its "premium salmon". I felt the service overall was just to my expectations, and we didn't have to wait so long for our food to get served. The atmosphere was cozy, warm, and welcoming, with its interior decorated with fairy light bulbs and faux plants. One of the main factors to why it was so warm and welcoming to me in my opinion was because of the restaurant's aesthetic. The sashimi, for my first time, was incredibly fresh and amazing, with each bite filling and satisfying. If I go to Japan one day, it's a must to try the authentic goodness from its origins!
On the other hand, we also ordered a warm hot chocolate to sip as a hot beverage toward the unforgiving cold. It would be even better if it was served hotter, but other than that, it hit real close to Lindt's hot chocolate, which is a massive compliment by the way, considering Lindt has some of the best hot chocolates.
If you come across High Country Salmon by any chance on a long haul, or like me, a short trip, then it's a great suggestion to stop by there to gain some energy with their fresh sashimi.
Rating: 8.5/10!

so... how did it go in the end?
Would I have to say that sacrificing a full day's energy just to pick a *friendly* snowball fight worth it? Absolutely. Compared to all the times where I've played in the snow, this time just hits different in a way I can't quite place. Well for one thing, there was tons of snow at the side of the road going for ages. And playing with snow could really just be simple as picking balls of snow and throwing it in the air. We just had a great time experiencing the beauty in Queenstown winters, snow and a whole bunch of pictures taking everything so unseriously. (normal for me of course.)
